Happiness

It's weird that happiness is the expected, natural state for humans/Americans.

I'm a cheerful person and I'm happier than a lot of people.  But I think I'm still more angry than happy.  And I'm sad a lot, too.

Man this has probably been said a hundred times better by like Walter fucking Benjamin or something.  But it is totally weird.  Like, the idea that I "deserve" to "be happy"?  What the fuck is that?  There are a few things I think a civilized society should provide humans: food, healthcare, shelter.  But providing happiness?  How does one do that?

I don't "deserve" to be happy.  You don't fucking know what a prick I am if you think that.
